Isaac Watson House

151 Westcott Avenue, Hamilton, NJ 08610

None
Built by Isaac and Joanna Watson in 1708, the Watson House is recognized as the oldest house in Mercer County. Originally set on 800 acres, the home is situated on a bluff overlooking Watson’s Creek in John A. Roebling Park. The property and home reflect the layered history of colonial settlement and Indigenous heritage, offering insights into early architecture, colonial life, and pre-colonial communities. Today, the house serves as the headquarters of the New Jersey State Society of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Before the Watsons resided on the property, archaeological findings indicate a Lenni-Lenape presence on the land, revealing evidence of an Indigenous village and pottery. Visitors can engage with history through educational tours, living history events, and hands-on programs that explore a variety of trades and lifestyles, creating an enriching and immersive experience for all ages.
